Diana Krall

After many years of waiting I finally found an opportunity to see my favourite musician live on stage. I bought a ticket for Diana Krall at the Orpheum in Vancouver on May 13th I'm totally excited and can't wait for her new album.
Nach jahrelangem warten habe ich endlich eine Möglichkeit meine Lieblingskünstlerin live zu sehen. Ich habe eine Konzertkarte fuer das Diana Krall Konzert im Orpheum Theater in Vancouver am 13.Mai gekauft und kann es kaum abwarten :-) auch auf das neue Album freue ich mich schon sehr!!!
Ein super lichtblich in einer sonst recht dunkelen Jahreszeit.

La Crosse II

A lot of what I learned today is too secret to end up on the internet (I like blogging but I like my job more ;-) )

Valyre / Walkuere

I watched Valkyre tonight and must say that I have mixed feelings about the film. On one hand the story was close to what I know about the assasination attempt by Stauffenberg at Hitler. I had expected more Hollywood soap but Tom Cruise was very convincing as the reluctant hero - probably the best I've seen him. On the other hand all Germans except for Hitler were depicted as either heroes, reluctant followers or victims. We all know that this is not true and that blind fanaticism of the majority of Germans made Hitler and the Nazis what they were. I'm concerned about how the neo nazis in Germany could easily use this movie to glorify the Whermacht and otherwise celebrate the failiure gaianst the SS.

Ich habe mir heute Abend "Walküre" im Kino angesehen. Lauft das schon in deutschen Kinos? Der Film hat mir besser gefallen als ich dachte und Tom Cruise war recht überzeugend als Stauffenberg. Wohl seine beste Rolle bisher. Allerdings wurden alle deutschen als Helden, Mittlaufer oder Opfer dargestellt. Und wir alle wissen dass dies nicht sein kann und dass die Tatsache das die Mehrheit der Deutschen damals Hitler und die Nazis an die Macht gebracht und dort gehalten haben.
Ich fuerchte die deutschen Neonazis koennen den Film leicht dazu gbrauchen die Wehrmacht zu glorifizieren und ansonsten den Fehlschlag des Anschages zu feiern.

Winter in Kanada

An alle denen ich jahrelang erzahlt habe, dass es in Kanada nicht so viel schneit wir alle immer Denken - Ich muss mich entschuldigen. Ich habe in meinem Leben noch nie so viel Schnee gesehen.

APICS Exam done / erledigt

It's done, today I wrote my first APICS Exam - Basics of Supply Chain Management. It went fairly well and I'm looking forward to my score. It was funny that the exam used the ETS answer sheets for the test that are so familiar to me from my time at ETS Europe.
Time now to focus on the christmas season ahead and skiing, snow.... and the next course starting in January :-)

Geschafft - heute habe ich die erste APICS Prüfung in Supply Chain Management geschrieben. Ist ganz gut gelaufen und ich hoffe ich muss nicht zu lange auf das Ergebnis warten. Es war lustig, die so bekannten ETS Antwortbogen zu benutzen die mir aus meiner Zeit bei ETS Europe so bekannt sind.
Jetzt kann ich mich auf Weihnachten, Ski fahren, schnee .... und den nachsten Kurs ab Januar konzentrieren.

One down, one more to go

Done – my first CPIM exam (Basics of Supply Chain Management) was tonight and it went quite well. I scored 71 out of 80 marks. Not bad for somebody that only started (exactly) one year ago into the world of production. That means that I passed the exam and the course and will be reimbursed for the cost of the course.

I also had the opportunity to see the exam after it was marked and note the areas I need to improve for the next exam (APICS) on December 13^th. No more studying tonight!!!

Geschafft, heute war die Pruefung fuer mein Supply Chain Management Kurs. Das Ergebnis war 71 punkte von 80. Nicht schlecht fuer jemanden der erst vor (genau) einem Jahr in die welt der produktion eingestiegen ist. Das heisst auch dass ich den Kurs erfolgreich abgeschlossen habe und meine Firma die Kosten uebernimmt. Die naechste (schwierigere) Pruefung ist am 13. Dezember (APICS). Ich konnte aber heute einen blick auf meine Pruefungsunterlagen werfen um zu sehen auf welche Themen ich besser achten muss. Also, weiter Daumen druecken!
